October Thoughts

Just realized how long it has been since I posted something. Oops. Thank you for everyone who liked my poetry. Makes me feel good. Now, if I can only get some parts of WordPress to work like it want it to, I’ll be fine. 🙂

I will post another poem from my back collection sometime today or tomorrow. I’ve considered doing something for #NaNoWriMo but not sure how poetry and novels work. I’ve considered writing a novel, and I might, but I don’t know what I would write. Several of my friends are posting that they plan to write. It will be cool to see what they come up with.

Work is good (I work full time) and I’m considering starting a blog for legal technology. We’ll see. Once I’m back in the swing of things, I might do that.

In case you have no idea what NaNoWriMo is, it’s a month that authors sign up at nanowrimo.org, dedicate that month to write at least 50k words, and get prizes. And a T-Shirt. 🙂 T-Shirts are important: Been there, done that….you get the picture.

Had to steal my iPad back from my daughter. She took off with it (I gave her my permission) Sunday night since I wasn’t using it. Then I wanted to use it yesterday. *sigh* Now I have to charge it and it’s doing odd things when it’s low on power. Very strange. I did just update it Sunday too. I might need to reboot it again.

T-Minus 13 hours…DragonCon here I come!

I haven’t posted in a while. Sorry about that. I plan to rectify that. But, work and prep work for volunteering at DragonCon this upcoming weekend has taken up most of my time in the last couple of months.

DragonCon you say? What is it? Never heard of it? Do you live under a rock? Well…may be not if you live outside of the states. It is one of the largest Science Fiction and Fantasy convention held here in Atlanta, GA, USA this Friday through Monday (8/30 – 9/2). And I volunteer for the Space Fan Track. Do you like Space? Come find us on Facebook under Dragon Con Space Track and Twitter @dconspacetrack. The twitter feed for Dragon Con itself is @DragonCon. And if you are going and have kids, there is a NASA workshop where the kids can make something at 9:30am on Monday morning in the Space Track room (Hilton 309/310). Come, join us!

I’m packed, mostly. I’m sure I’m forgetting something. Hopefully, I’ll get it together before I leave tomorrow. I may blog about stuff and/or post pictures (as soon as I figure out how this app thing works). I will definitively post some poetry. 🙂

Have a glorious weekend!

The return of the iPad

Greetings everyone. I’m back with an iPad (b-day present so I can talk to parents with facetime) to help with writing, games, editing, reviews, social media, and all those things that had to be put on the back burner while I find a full-time job. Well, I found one. 🙂

It is an interesting transition but I’m enjoying it. I plan to stalk Goodreads.com (if you haven’t joined, you should as it is a one-stop shopping smorgasbord for your reading (and writing if you are so inclined) pleasure. Great way to get yourself advertised if you are self-publishing. Highly recommend it. If you need beta reading or editing, let me know. I read just about everything, including Romance, Science Fiction, Fantasy, Paranormal, Steampunk, YA, and other genres I don’t normally read… Mostly fiction though, although, I can probably be talked into non-fiction depending upon the topic. You can contact me on my contacts page.

More poetry will be posted as soon as I get my act together. I have years of stuff to wade through and that doesn’t include the stuff I create. Might even write short stories and/or novels. Still working on that.

Thanks to those that encourage me and I’m going to try post more often. If nothing else, I hope you are entertained.

No Others Need Apply by Evelise Archer Review

Sorry for the long wait, but working takes a lot out of you.  🙂

This is my review from goodreads.com.  I had my first review all worked out and then I went to add this to my blog and lost it off the tab I had on Goodreads when I went to add the picture to the post.  *sigh*  Sometimes technology makes me want to smack it.  Or, at least, bludgeon into submission.  That will teach me to write it offline first; or, at least, in a program that autosaves…and now for the review:

“Note: I am a beta reader for the author.  I also received a copy from the author so I could review the final version.

I give it a full 5 Stars because I loved reading this story.  Would I like it to be longer? Of course I do. But, then again, I’m a series kind of gal and love story arcs that continue across multiple books.  That doesn’t mean I don’t like self-contained gems like this one.  Yes, there is not a lot of sex.  Yes, it is short.  But these things, in their brevity, make it a beautiful little story.

This is the story of Shelton Richards and Jonathon Valient; who meet from an online blog, fall in love, and find their home with each other.  It’s short, sweet, and full of love with not a lot of sex.  The point of this story is learning their journey to falling in love with a someone who enjoys the same things you do, in this instance, primarily books.  Who wouldn’t love that?  I would recommend anyone who wants a short read (less than 25 pages), male characters who are into each other, and love ‘happy ever after’ stories.   I say for a debut book here on Goodreads, it is a good start and I would enjoy reading more from the author.”

More reviews, books, and, of course, poeatry as soon as I can.  I have several beta/editing books and short stories to do, a couple more reviews, and my brain wrapped around writing poetry again.  The work situation is getting better with hope on the horizon.  I might mark it with a new poem…stay tuned! ~Kim

I’m back…mostly..

Sorry for the long wait for those that follow.  I’ve gotten off my duff and post a past poem and maybe I’ll get inspired soon to write more: poetry, reviews, and maybe even stories.  🙂

It’s been a long couple of months looking for job.  I hope it happens soon.  In the meantime, I’m gong to post reviews and poetry as I run across things.  And maybe the occasional contest for my favorite genre: Romance! (Thanks AF for that lovely contest, it got me going an realizing I can just re-blog things I like. Hadn’t done that before.  I’ll get the hang of this blogging thing..eventually.)

So, sit tight, relax, and enjoy the ride… -Kim

Poetry: Wonder

O the days gone by
Brightly lit in the sky.
The wonder of a passing age.

O wonder of the night
Singing gaily in spite
Of a time spent in haste.

How I wish there was a place
That I could take my face
And see my sadness flee.
For here I stand
In this world, as planned;
And wonder what’s to be.
